Media Creativity Spirit: on 7 May 2025 of the 'University Media' Second Edition Final at Biskra University

Under the slogan "Together towards a purposeful and constructive media", Biskra University
witnessed hosted the events of the second edition of the national and international competition
"University Journalist" final, organised by the state office of the National Organisation of
Free Students (ONEL), run by Biskra University Rector, Prof. Mahmoud Debabeche.

The Rector headed this event attended by the university community, the Secretary General, the
Faculties’ Deans, the University Services officials, the ONEL National Office President, Mr
Riadh Boukhbala, the two Parliament Houses of representatives, the local elected councils’
representatives. Prominent media personalities covered the event, including the journalists
Badreddine Chattah, Djaafar Bilal, Pr Bachireddine Merghad, Dr Mohamed Daimi, the of the
Biskra and Ouled Djellal radio stations director, Mr Abdelbasset ben Rabie, and the presenters
Shahrazad Amirate and Nassim Beital, giving the event a distinct national and cultural
dimension. The meeting opened with a welcome speech by the university's Rector, who
praised this media appointment, described as "a meaningful opportunity to discover young
talent", highlighting the efficiency of the organiser and the professionalism of the participants.
In his speech, Riadh Boukhbala thanked the university administration for its support and
stressed the importance of the media as a key pillar in shaping the future of the country. Then,
Abdelhalim Gharbia gave a comprehensive presentation of the process of this edition,
explaining that the qualification started on 1 February 2025 with 70 competitors from
different country universities and international students, until the announcement of the 15
finalists on 16 April, after a careful evaluation by a jury composed of an elite group of
Algerian media professionals.
At the start, the journalist Badreddine Chattah gave a valuable presentation on the winners’
selection criteria: on voice quality, linguistic confidence, charisma, improvisation and
harmony between subject and presentation. Choral performances interspersed the competition
by ‘Angham Al-Ziban Band, adding an artistic flavour. Omar Abdelwahab Hadjadj from
Ammar Theligi University won the first prize, Yenis Baouch from Blida 2 University won the
second prize and Ikram Achi from Biskra University won the third prize; Chahinez Kabsi

(Khenchela University) and Amel Boudras (Algiers University) shared the jury prize, while
Zahra Rayhane Sidi Moussa (Blida 2University) won the governor's prize. At the ceremony
end, the University Rector, the Secretary General, the Faculties’ Deans and the organisation
National Office President honoured the winners and the event success contributors under the
audience’s applause reflecting the success and popularity of this ambitious initiative. The
"University Media" second edition ended a truly qualitative event embodying creativity and
responsibility spirit, thanks to the great efforts made by the national office of the National
Organisation of Free Students at Biskra University. ONEL Biskra demonstrated its ability to
manage a national and international event with high professionalism and an ambitious vision.
This edition was exemplary.
