Biskra University Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty commemorated the 63rd
Independence and Youth Day anniversaries with a historical symposium on 2nd July 2025
entitled: ‘The 63rd Anniversary of Independence: Paths of Liberation and the Stakes of Youth
in Tomorrow’s Algeria’.
Faculty members and administrators attended the event, led by the
Faculty Dean, Pr Belkacem Missoum. In his opening speech, he stressed the importance of
organising such intellectual events to preserve national memory and promote historical
awareness among the youth, praising the organising committees for its success. Professor
Farouk Kari chaired the symposium and featured the impact of political conditions and
foundations of the Algerian-French negotiations (1960–1962) and the Evian Agreements and
their role in completing the liberation process on the recovery of national sovereignty.
Participants also discussed the aspirations of Algerian youth and their vital role in shaping the
future of Algeria in light of this inspiring historical legacy.
